Mark Mansfield

Mark J. Mansfield is a Board Certified Family Law Specialist, licensed to practice law in Louisiana, with over 21 years of experience handling complex family law matters. He has been honored and distinguished throughout Louisiana through a variety of recognitions and has been recognized as a leader in the area of family law by multiple publications. He has represented parties in many parishes throughout Louisiana and Courts of Appeal in a variety of family law matters. Mark has experience working in every phase of family law litigation, including pre and post nuptial agreements, child support and spousal support, property partitions and child custody matters, utilizing multiple professionals in accounting and mental health as needed.

Mark was born in Metairie, Louisiana and attended Jesuit High School. He graduated with Honors from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History. He returned to the New Orleans area to attend Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, graduating with a JD in 2000 while working his way through school. Mark began practicing in the area of family law with the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office in the child support division as a new lawyer. From there, Mark moved to prosecuting with First and Second Parish Courts before going into private practice in 2004 with Frank Tranchina. Since then, both he and Frank have represented high profile clients in an aggressive and creative fashion, tailoring the approach to obtaining successful results for the client while being efficient and cost effective. In 2009, Mark and Frank began the firm of Tranchina and Mansfield, LLC in Covington to serve the family law needs of the metropolitan New Orleans area. In 2010, Mark became one of the few attorneys in Louisiana to earn the distinction as a Board Certified Family Law Specialist, passing the test on his first try.

In 2013, while serving as President of the Covington Bar Association, Mark spearheaded the transition into the 22nd Judicial District Bar Association. Furthermore, starting in 2013 Mark was recognized by Super Lawyer Magazine as a “Rising Star” (an honor afforded to only 2.5% of attorneys in Louisiana) and then a Louisiana Super Lawyer commencing in 2015 (an honor afforded to only 5% of attorneys). In 2019, Mark was recognized as a “Leader in Law” by Biz Magazine in New Orleans. He has additionally been designated one of eight family law attorneys in Louisiana to achieve the status as “Best Lawyers in America” and as a “Top Lawyer” by New Orleans Magazine since 2018 in the field of Family Law. In 2019, Mark was named one of the top 50 Attorneys in New Orleans by Super Lawyers and in 2020 one of the top 50 Attorneys in the entire State of Louisiana. He is also A-V rated by Martindale Hubbell.

Mark served as a Committee member then Chair from 2010-2020 with the Louisiana Office of Disciplinary Counsel and in 2021, was selected to the Board of the Louisiana Board of Specialization for Family Law. Mark is repeatedly chosen by his colleagues to mediate a variety of difficult family law issues and has been requested to make presentations to other lawyers on various family law issues for Continuing Legal Education classes for years. He is a member of the Western District and Eastern District bars of Federal Court in Louisiana and the United States Supreme Court bar.

Mark and his wife, Liz, a native of Covington, have been married since 2005 and are the parents of four children. They live in Mandeville. In his free time, Mark enjoys playing guitar (he has a large autographed sports and music memorabilia collection in his office), coaching youth sports for his kids and cheering on the New Orleans Saints.
